Shay Schual-Berke, M.D. (Democrat) served the 33rd Legislative District representing South King County. She served five terms, 1999-2009.

Shay was a retired cardiologist who chose to spend more time with her family and serve her community.

She served on the boards of Wesley Homes and the Wahington Council for the Prevention of Child Abuse and Neglect. She also served on the Highline School Board, State School Director's Association, King County Oversight Panel on Teen Health Clinics, and the National Council of State Legislatures' Forum for Health Police.

She was selected as a Fellow of the Flemming Leadership Institute (2000). She received numerous awards while serving in the Legislature including the 2006 King County Bar Association President's Choice award, the Children's Alliance Legislator of the Year Award (2005) and the Planned Parenthood Appreciation Award.

Shay is married with two children.
