Sharon Nelson
Sharon Nelson (Democrat) represents the 34th Legislative District serving a portion of King County. She was appointed to the
House of Representatives in November, 2007 to serve an unexpired term. She was then elected to the state Senate in November, 2010, and sworn in
to serve an unexpired term.
Sharon led the successful environmental fight to prevent strip mining on Maury Island, a battle that ended in 2010.
Sharon was Chief of Staff for former King County Councilmember Dow Constantine.
Prior to her public service work, Sharon’s career included serving as a Vice President for Bank of America, specializing in commercial lending.
She has lived on Maury Island since 1994 with her husband John. They have two daughters.
