Jean Berkey (Democrat) served the 39th Legislative District which included Everett and Marysville. She was appointed to the House of Representatives in January 2001 and served until she was appointed to the Senate in 2004 where she served until 2011.

Jean was active in community activities in Snohomish County -- including serving as board member for the Everett Senior Center, the Everett Medic One Foundation, United Way and the Everett Community College Board of Trustees.

She received a bachelor's degree in business administration from the University of Washington.

She was a strong advocate for education, government accountability, and affordable health care.

The family resides in South Everett.
