Lena Swanson (Democrat) was appointed February 9, 1997 to a seat representing the 35th Legislative District following the resignation of Brad Owen upon his election as Lt. Governor.

The district represented Mason County and a portion of Grays Harbor, Kitsap and Thurston Counties.
