Jeanne Kohl-Welles
Jeanne Kohl-Welles (Democrat) has represented the 36th Legislative District in Seattle in the Senate since 1994 and
in the House from 1992-1994 after being appointed to the seat to serve an
unexpired term.
She holds a Ph.D. in Sociology of Education from UCLA and attended Harvard University’s Kennedy School Government.
She’s been a teacher, UC Irvine Asst. Dean, U.S. Dept. of Education Educational Equity Specialist, and UW Lecturer.
She’s a published author, expert witness on Title IX, an international speaker on human trafficking, and a member of the WSIPP, JLARC,
ArtsWA, Western Interstate Commission on Higher Education, and the UW Harry Bridges Labor Center Visiting Committee, and is a
Humanities Washington Speaker.
