Phyllis Gutiérrez Kenney
Phyllis Gutiérrez Kenney (Democrat) served the 46th Legislative District which represented a portion of King County. She was appointed
to the House
of Representatives in January, 1997 to serve an unexpired term. She remained in the House until her retirement in 2012, having served eight terms.
A former small-business owner, she was a delegate to the White House Conference on Small Business, President of the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and Assistant Commissioner for the Employment Security Department.
Passionate about educational opportunity, Phyllis was past chair of the Seattle Community College District Board of Trustees and former commissioner on the Western Interstate Commission for Higher Education. She was a board member for the National Council of La Raza and National Center for Policy Alternatives.
Phyllis and her husband had ten children.
