Karen Keiser
Karen Keiser (Democrat) represents the 33rd Legislative District, which includes Des Moines, Normandy Park, SeaTac, parts of un-incorporated King County and parts of Kent, Burien and Renton.
Originally apppointed to the House of Representatives in 1996 to serve an unexpired term, she served there until her appointment to the state Senate in
2001. She won reelection in 2002, 2006 and 2010.
Karen has focused on work and family issues. She is a champion for increasing health care access and improving outcomes for all Washingtonians and has worked to contain health costs and reduce health care fraud.
A former journalist, Karen holds a Bachelor’s in Political Science and a Master’s in Journalism from the University of California.
She also serves on the Board of Directors of the Economic Opportunity Institute, is a former Fleming and Fannie May Foundation Fellow and a 2007 Arthur S. Fleming Award recipient.
Karen is married with three children.
