Janéa Holmquist Newbry
Janéa Holmquist Newbry (Republican) was elected to serve the 13th Legislative District representing Kittitas and parts of Grant and Yakima counties. She was
first appointed to the House of Representatives in December, 2001 and served three terms until her appointment to the State Senate in 2006 to serve an unexpired
term. She was reelected in 2010.
At 31, Janéa became the youngest female state senator elected in Washington history.
Janéa is a strong advocate for employers and their workers, and is a recipient of NFIB’s Guardian of Small Business Award, the Association of
General Contractors’ Legislator of the Year award, and the Business Institute of Washington’s Business Star Award.
She resides in Grant County with her husband and their son.
