Rosa Franklin
Rosa Franklin (Democrat) served the 29th Legislative District in Pierce County which includes South Tacoma, Parkland, Manitou and portions
of Lakewood and University Place. She served one term in the House of Representatives from 1991-1993. She was appointed to
the Senate in 1993 and was elected to the position in the subsequent election. She served until 2011. She also served as President Pro Tempore in the Senate.
A long-term resident of her district, Rosa is active in political and community affairs. She relinquished a 42-year diverse nursing career
to become a legislator.
She graduated from Good Samaritan Waverly Hospital School of Nursing, Columbia, South Carolina; the University of
Puget Sound; and Pacific Lutheran University. She obtained a women's Health Care Specialist Certificate from the University of Washington and
an honorary doctorate degree from the University of Puget Sound.
