Jeannie Darneille
Jeannie Darneille (Democrat) serves the 27th Legislative District which encompasses Ruston and much of Tacoma. First elected to the House of Representatives
in 2000, she served five terms before being elected to serve in the Senate in 2012.
As a representative, Jeannie focused on appropriations and advocating on behalf of the poor and disenfranchised.
Jeannie spent a decade in higher education before serving as executive director for many nonprofit human services organizations,
including the Pierce County AIDS Foundation, Hospitality House women’s shelter, and the Emergency Food Network.
She received her B.A. from Western Washington University and her M.Ed. from Colorado State University.
She and her husband have three adult sons.
